Take Control of Your Future
Feeling stuck? At a crossroads in your emotional life, or feeling that something is just not quite right?
Even the strongest among us can feel lost, unsure, fearful, or unhappy at times.
As a professional Counsellor, I can help you to better understand and manage whatever life throws at you.
I believe that you have the strength not just to survive, but to truly thrive.
ABOUT ME
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor and registered member of the BACP.
I have experience of working with clients of various age ranges for whom the demands of life and work have negatively impacted their well-being and relationships.
In addition to private practice, I have experience of working with adults and young people within voluntary organisations and in secondary/grammar school, and have also worked for many years in corporate environments and for Local Government in Education / Social Care
WHAT MIGHT YOU BE LOOKING FOR?
Support That Makes a Positive Difference
TIME TO REFLECT
Some people feel they need a specific reason to seek counselling, such as having experienced a traumatic event. There are in fact many reasons why someone might choose to come to counselling. You may just feel stressed or unhappy, perhaps without knowing exactly why. Counselling can provide you with a scheduled time for self reflection. I can help you work out what might be troubling you, even if you’re not sure yourself, helping you explore ways to move forward.
TIME TO EXPLORE
Counselling can enable you to make the changes needed to lead a more enjoyable life. Whether you have a specific issue and need a short term block of sessions to explore this, or to work longer term to gain a greater understanding of your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, it can make a huge difference to your happiness and overall quality of life.
SUPPORTIVE RELATIONSHIP
Whilst family and friends can sometimes be a good source of support, people can find it helpful to talk to a professional counsellor about their issues, in a confidential setting. Being truly heard and understood by someone who is not personally involved can be hugely beneficial.
FACILITATE CHANGE
Life can throw many surprises at us, some beyond our control. Counselling can increase self awareness and provide clarity, enabling you to consciously choose how to respond to your individual circumstances.

HOW I CAN HELP
FIRST SESSION
The first therapy session is your opportunity to talk about what difficulties you’re experiencing, what you hope to change or to achieve from counselling. I will ask you some basic questions and explain a bit about how I work. You are welcome to ask questions at any point related to our working agreement.
TOOLS IN THE TOOLBOX
As an integrative counsellor, I combine different theoretical approaches, research and tools to meet the needs of each individual client, thereby offering a more flexible, holistic way of working.
I draw on the psychodynamic approach (which recognises the importance of the early years and people’s formative relationships), the humanistic approach (helping clients to recognise their inner strength and ability to find solutions to their issues), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (which focuses on the connection between thoughts, emotions and behaviours) and Transactional Analysis (which looks at our communication with others).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Find Your Answers Here
WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
The aim of counselling is to encourage you to talk about your feelings and thoughts around what is difficult for you. As a trained professional I will listen and support you without judging or criticising.
Together we will work to uncover what is at the heart of your current difficulties, enabling you to draw on your own strength and resources to find alternative, healthier solutions to whatever is causing your distress.
DOES WHAT WE DISCUSS REMAIN CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes, what we discuss does remain confidential, however there are some exceptions to this which I will explain in more detail when we meet.
To ensure my practice is both ethical and in the best interest of my clients, I work within the BACP Ethical Framework. As part of that commitment, I undertake regular professional supervision with another experienced counsellor who is trained in supervision. However, I do not share clients' personal details or any identifying information during these meetings.
WILL YOU TELL ME WHAT TO DO?
No, it is not my place to tell you what to do. Only you can make those choices, but I can support you as you consider how best to move forward.
Counselling is a self-directed process which needs your commitment; my role is to facilitate you in finding your own answers. You are the expert in your own life!
During our work together, I will safely support you in working towards positive change.
HOW MANY SESSIONS WOULD I NEED?
Each client is different, some may need just a couple of sessions to resolve a particular issue. Others may choose to engage in longer term work, looking more deeply at feelings, thoughts and behaviours.
How long we work together depends on you and your needs. I offer both short term and long term counselling.
In either case, we will regularly review our work together, to ensure we are progressing towards your goals.
HOW CAN WE GET STARTED?
Establishing a good therapeutic relationship is one of the most important factors in the effectiveness of our work together, so it's important that you feel comfortable with me.
With that in mind, I offer a free, no obligation, telephone discussion or email correspondance, where we can explore what it is you would like to achieve and how we might work towards that. If you decide that I am the right counsellor for you, we can arrange a mutually convenient time to meet on a weekly basis.
HOW MUCH IS YOUR FEE?
My Fee is £60 per 50 minute session. Payment may be made by cash or by bank transfer (bank transfer payments must be made in advance)
Sometimes the smallest step in the right direction can end up being the BIGGEST step of your life.....
